Do You Know About The Craigslist PVA Changes?

Do you use Craigslist to advertise for your business?  Do you post in the services section on Craigslist or any other section that requires a phone verified account?  If so, then you should be aware that Craigslist has recently introduced some dramatic changes.  Of most concern is a major change that affects phone verified accounts and is sure to be of great impact on anyone who uses phone verified accounts on Craigslist, no matter how big or small.

This recent changed introduced by Craigslist affects phone verified accounts directly, more specifically the creation of phone verified accounts.  It used to be that you could verify your Craigslist account using your home or mobile phone and that was that.  It was of no importance if you posted an ad on Craigslist straight away or if you waited several days or even weeks before you used it.  The important thing was that your account was verified thanks to the use of a phone number.  This is no longer the case.  Craigslist has introduced a drastic new change that affects how long you can wait to post an ad on Craigslist after you verify it.  As already mentioned, there used to be no time limit.  However, with the new changes, once you verify an account you must post an ad almost immediately on Craigslist.  An ad must be posted on Craigslist to lock the account in verified status.  If you do not post an ad on Craigslist shortly after verifying your account, you will find that it reverts back to a non-verified account.  What does this mean?  It means that you will have to re-verify the account all over again if you wish to post in any sections on Craigslist that require phone verified accounts.  It looks as though Craigslist allows an 8 – 10 hour timeframe from when an account is verified to just how long you have to post an ad on Craigslist to lock it in the verified state.  If you don’t post an ad within this timeframe, you will receive a second phone call from Craigslist with the verification code.  This is more than likely a reminder from Craigslist so you can post an ad and lock your account in verified status.  If you ignore this second phone call, a few hours later you will find that the account is no longer phone verified.  You will have to repeat the process all over again.  The good news is that you can use your same phone number again.  This makes sense as since your account is no longer verified, the phone number is no longer used.  You won’t have to worry about finding a new phone number to try and re-verify your account if you only have one number you use.

While the recent change regarding phone verified accounts on Craigslist is minor, it can cause a lot of stress and wasted time for those who verify accounts and then don’t post ads immediately.  Save yourself the trouble and post an ad on Craigslist immediately after you verify it.  Doing this will lock the account as a PVA and you can safely use it another day.
